Mike fell in love with coffee (okay, what he really means is he fell in love with Starbucks) about 12 years ago while living in Redding, California. However, it wasn’t until a few years ago that he really discovered how amazing coffee can be. While teaching in Ohio, a friend of Mike’s told him about home roasting and gave Mike some of his freshly roasted coffee (thank you Brady). Soon after a coffee shop called Branch Street opened in Boardman, Ohio. Mike got to know the owner and learned so much more about coffee. It was about this time that Mike began roasting on a handcrank popcorn popper, and was hooked on roasting his own coffee. A little over a year, Mike, his wife Mikaela, and his two boys, moved to Arizona. It was here that Mike and Tyler met and discovered a mutual coffee obsession. And thus Wind and Fire Coffee was born. Currently, Mike is a U.S. History high school teacher. Mike and Mikaela have been married 18 years. They have two children (Evan and Nathan), and as of yet, no dog. He loves to play video games and read history and science fiction books. He does not love the St. Louis Cardinals due to the fact they always beat Mike’s beloved Cincinnati Reds.
